A Word from the Commodore

The first regatta of the year is on the books; we all had a terrific time on a nice spring weekend. So what we only had one day of wind, that happened before and we learned that partying on the dock with beverages on the rocks beats sailing in shallow water hitting a rock.

The party the night before so gallantly arranged by Donna and Bill left Cristina and me in a battle uphill. Thanks to leftovers Christina and our David in command, we had good drinks and good food to every ones delight. The racing was great on Saturday with the gang on the committee boat doing a terrific job. They managed so many fleets they had to innovate and cut rags into flags to get off the starts.

The mood on the lake on Sunday was relaxed except that the committee was oh so concerned that we all were dying to get in a drift off. Well low and behold there went the long distance fleet and they found some wind, but the J22s were stuck by the buoy and the rest of us watched with great appreciation as the time for racing reached expiration. The timing was prefect the beer was replenished; Christina hit Sam's on time and Rusty helped ice down the beverages. We all had food and drinks as we waited for everyone to gather and recognize the winners of trophies in this great event.

Now for corrections you all sometimes may be wrong except me I am only mistaken.

Larry Roberts, I am sorry, but Dan although he did not finish the last race deserved your trophy. To all of you a heartfelt thanks for making this first event a delightful event.

We are indebted to David Perrine, Bill Lewis, Bill Todd, Jim Kelly and Marc Fortune for running the races, to Craig and July Klick for helping with registration, the Catalina fleet for providing breakfast and Christina Jones for managing and Donna and Bill Freer, Linda Brown and Russel and Rusty for helping to execute the partying.
