Waller is in the Water!

The Waller, PPYC’s new Northstar club boat, was splashed at 1300 hours on Thursday, April 17th, its first acquaintance with Percy Priest Lake.  Click here for pictures of the big event.  Many thanks to all those who participated (one of the pictures shows everyone) and to Don Wright for taking the pictures.  There’s also a great picture of Jim Waller, for whom the boat is named, and his son David next to the transom before launching.  Final rigging, adjustments, and the maiden voyage will happen soon, then she’ll be ready for use in the Club Boat Program.

The Grand Ole Open Regatta

PPYC's second regatta of the year, the Grand Ole Open Regatta, will be held on May 3 & 4, 2008. Please register in advance online. You'll save $10.00 and there are no additional forms to fill out at the regatta. Online registration ends at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2.

Successful Force Five Regatta

PPYC enjoyed great weather recently for the first annual regatta of 2008, the Force Five. There was enough wind to race on both days and no rain! Results of the regatta are posted here. Thanks to Brad Arnold and Rob Bourquin for organizing the regatta and to the J22 fleet for hosting it. Kudos to Roger Arnold for a great job as PRO leading the race, and thanks to all the volunteers who helped with race committee, chase boat work, registrations, and food. A special thanks to Richard Lewis and Brad Arnold for their work all day Friday preparing the excellent smoked BBQ, which had very many compliments and was so abundant that we enjoyed it on Sunday too!! And finally, thanks to all the participants who came out and raced. This was a great start to the 2008 racing season for PPYC.

Continuing its tradition of sponsoring PPYC regattas, West Marine has signed up again for 2008. In recognition of their ongoing support of PPYC, we have decided to rename the Oktoberfest Regatta the "West Marine Oktoberfest Regatta". Mike and Rachel at West Marine in Hermitage are very knowledgeable about sailboat parts, equipment and maintenance. Stop by and see them, and tell them thanks from PPYC. 4th Annual Shores & Stripes Boat Parade

Nashville Shores announces it will hold the 4th Annual Shores & Stripes Boat Parade. This year the parade will take place on the July 4th holiday so more boaters can participate. Last year, PPYC's own Committee Boat "Judges Chambers" and its intrepid crew took first prize in the decoration contest.

Come out and enjoy the PPYC dock party on July 3rd with fireworks afterward at Nashville Shores. Then come out and enjoy the parade on July 4th in your decorated boat. Click here to access more information and the entry form.
